Pregnancy Calendar - 5th Week
- It is necessary to include in your diet:
- carbohydrates that act beneficially to the pregnancy
- fresh fruits and vegetables that contain essential vitamins and minerals
- dairy products rich in calcium
- protein-rich foods as for the blood vessels, the tissues and the vital organs of your baby to thrive.
For the mother:
- The increase of progesterone due to the pregnancy creates excessive breast volume, increased hunger and sometimes dizziness, morning sickness and vomiting. The growth of the uterus compresses the bladder which creates frequent urination. These symptoms vary from woman to woman, even for the same woman in different pregnancies.
For the baby:
- The fetus is a small disc consisting of three layers. These three layers are called ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm. From the ectoderm the neural tube will be created which in the future will form the nervous system (brain, spinal cord), skin and hair. The middle layer (mesoderm) will form the heart, circulatory system, bones, muscles, kidneys and reproductive organs. During this week the heart and a primal circulatory system will be created quickly. The heart and circulatory system are the first to operate in the fetus. From the endoderm the intestine, liver, pancreas and bladder will be formed.
