Pregnancy Calendar - 19th Week
- Wash your hands and use gloves when doing housework.
- Avoid using fume producing cleaning products.
- Prefer comfortable underwear, clothes and stockings for proper blood circulation!
For the mother:
- During this week, it is likely to feel your baby moving.
- Your tummy is growing and is likely to influence your sense of balance.
For the baby:
- The eyes of the fetus are now in their correct position, although they remain closed as to be protected.
- The fetus in the womb makes a wide range of facial expressions.
- The fluff covering the baby’s entire body will remain up until birth.
- During this week the permanent teeth are formed underneath the already created provisional ones.
- The baby's skin begins to be covered by sebum that protects the delicate skin from scratches. Sebum is maintained up to 2 weeks before birth.
- The nerve cells that connect the muscles to the brain are developed. Thus, the fetus can perform voluntary movements apart from the involuntary ones.
- The size of the fetus (head-tail distance) now reaches approximately 15cm and it weighs approximately 240grams.
