Pregnancy Calendar - 21st Week
- Begin to think whether to attend a training programme or a seminar specifically designed for pregnant women.
- Do not force yourself to do anything you are not willing to do.
- Relax, have a massage and enjoy a nutritious fruit juice.
For the mother:
- You may now feel pain around your tummy.
- Your expanded uterus will start to pressure your lungs and it is likely to feel dyspnea.
For the baby:
- The embryo’s taste buds are being formed in the embryo’s tongue and the sense of touch is improved thanks to the continued growth of the brain and nerve fibers.
- Having enough space in your womb, the fetus makes big movements with his hands and feet.
- The liver and spleen produce fetal blood. During this week bone marrow begins to be created which is going to contribute to the formation of the fetus’s blood.
- The cranium of the embryo consists of plates, which have not merged, so that the brain has the ability to grow.
- The size of the fetus (head-tail distance) now reaches approximately 18cm, and weighs approximately 350grams.
