Pregnancy Calendar - 33rd Week
- Decorate your baby's room and buy anything you might find useful for at least the first few days (diapers, cleaning supplies, thermometers etc)
- Seek your partner’s support and cuddles that are essential.
For the mother:
- Your baby has grown to the extent that his/her movements are hampered. The baby is highly active and you may feel his/her feet jammed underneath your ribs as it spins and coils.
For the baby:
- The fetus assumes many expressions in the womb.
- The head is now in proper proportion to the rest of the body.
- The mechanism that controls the body temperature of the embryo is now operational, accumulating much more fat. Temperature regulation will stabilize shortly after birth.
- The embryo has reached the point of making most of the gestures a baby possesses.
- The protrusion of the tongue is standard fetal behavior. With its help the fetus tastes and explores his/her environment.
- The size of the fetus (head-tail distance) now reaches about 30cm and weighs approximately, 2 kilograms.
