Pregnancy Calendar - 6th Week
For the mother:
- During this week dizziness may commence. Morning sickness is a permanent companion at any time of day but not during all pregnancies. You start to dislike certain foods while plenty of fluids in the morning cause vomiting. Certain smells like coffee, can make you sick.
For the baby:
- From this week, the fetus is accelerating rapidly. Its length is about 2mm. The neural tube will start to close and the formation of the digestive tract will begin. While the fetus’s heart is tiny, it has a ventricle and the first heart-beats can be heard and it supplies blood to most organs beginning to form.
- The umbilical cord is created.
- The eyes and ears begin to form as cracks as a sequence of the mouth.
- Projections of the body are formed which will produce the arms and legs.
