Pregnancy Calendar - 4th Week
- Do not panic if you feel the first symptoms of pregnancy such as fatigue and swollen breasts.
- Relax and feel the joy of motherhood!
For the mother:
- The blastocyst ends up into the uterus for implantation about five to seven days after ovulation. Approximately nine days after fertilization, the blastocyst, consisting now of a few hundred cells, begins to adhere to the wall of the uterus and is divided into two parts. One will produce the fetus while the other will produce the membranes and the placenta. This is the amazing organ which during your pregnancy becomes your baby’s life support system.
- Soon after conception, your blood volume is increased, making your body able to supply the necessary amount of blood for the developing placenta, the enlarged uterus and your baby’s growth.
- The fertilized ovulum has advanced into the uterus and is probably fully implanted in the enlarged endometrium. You can now officially be called pregnant, even if you are not aware of it!
