- The hormones of pregnancy relax the fibers of the sphincter between the esophagus and stomach and that is why some women feel sour stomach fluid entering the esophagus.
For the baby:
- Towards the end of this week, with the highest care, it might be possible for the fetus to survive outside the womb. However most of the organs, especially the lungs are still developing.
- The embryo’s facial characteristics are completed and his/her eyes have taken their place in front of his/her face.
- The eyelashes and eyebrows are already fully formed.
- The skin of the embryo’s extremities is harder than the rest of his/her body.
- The fetus now occupies the largest part of the uterus, so movement is limited.
- The fetus is able to hear very well, even your voice, the gurgles of the stomach and music.
- The size of the fetus (head-tail distance) reaches approximately 21cm, and it weighs approximately 650grams.
