Pregnancy Calendar - 34th Week
- Avoid jobs that are not necessary!
- Plan and religiously follow your visits to the doctor which will be more frequent until the day of childbirth.
For the mother:
- About two kilos per week are expected to be added to your weight, at this stage of your pregnancy up until labour.
- Your baby due to his/her increased size has now less room to move inside the uterus and you may even feel his/her hiccup.
For the baby:
- The immune system of the fetus is developing fast, which will help to address minor infections.
- The face of the fetus assumes various expressions and it is difficult not to attribute those to the corresponding feelings of adults.
- Smiling is a common facial expression employed by the fetus and it is a surprising fact that this is the only type of behaviour not displayed immediately after birth.
- It is gradually becoming more and more difficult for the embryo to glide into the amniotic fluid.
- The fetus sharpens his/her senses and uses his/her tongue extensively to practice breastfeeding, although you are unaware of this activity.
- The size of the fetus (head-tail distance) now reaches about 32cm and it weighs approximately 2.3 kilograms.
