Pregnancy Calendar - 36th Week
- Begin to prepare for the hospital!
- Take some time everyday for breathing techniques!
- Do not isolate yourself and discuss your feelings with your partner, your friends even with your doctor to feel better.
For the mother:
- The joints of the pelvis dilate in preparation for childbirth, for that reason you will probably feel discomfort or pain in that area.
For the baby:
- The fetus has almost reached his/her size at birth. From now on, the embryo will only acquire more weight, as it will add about 225 grams in each of the weeks to come.
- The fetal kidneys are fully developed and the liver has the capacity to process some feces.
- The fetus probably recognizes your voice -timbre, tone and rhythm- and can distinguish it from other sounds.
- Because the embryo is now awake for longer periods, facial expressions are of greater variety.
- The folds in the skin of the cranium of the fetus is probably due to the fact that the skull bones are very soft, allowing the further development of the brain and easier access to the genital tract.
- If the baby were born today, he/she would be able to breathe without artificial support, since the lungs have matured enough.
- The size of the fetus (head-tail distance) now reaches about 34cm while it weighs approximately 2.75 kilograms.
