Pregnancy Calendar - 25th Week
For the mother:
- Your pregnancy has advanced and you now may realize the initial effects of the extra weight, since it seems that everything requires more effort.
For the baby:
- The embryo has now established a stable movement and sleeping pattern.
- The fetal nostrils open.
- Deep gums germinate permanent teeth.
- The fetus’s vital organs have evolved largely apart from the lungs.
- The fetus is very skillful.
- The nerves around the mouth and lips have been sensitized henceforth the fetus enjoys to suck body parts such as his/her knees.
- The umbilical cord is firm and resilient, continuing to be the fetus’s ‘lifeline’.
- Although the fetal skin remains transparent and thin, it is now more evenly distributed throughout the body.
- The size of the fetus (head-tail distance) now reaches 22cm and weighs approximately 700grams.
