Pregnancy Calendar - 9th Week
- Continue to be careful with your diet and lifestyle!
- Make necessary purchases of clothes and brassieres as to feel comfortable.
For the mother:
- Your uterus has doubled in size and you may have noticed that your clothes look a bit tight around your waist.
- Tears, anger and some periodic trends of melancholy are caused by hormonal changes in your body that are responsible for the symptoms of nausea and fatigue.
For the baby:
- During this week the muscle of the diaphragm will develop and the intestines will begin to be transported from the area of the umbilical cord into the abdomen.
- Earlier the limbs resembled wings, now the formation of the fingers and toes of the hands and feet is almost complete. At the same time nails begin to grow.
- The fetus has the ability to move his hands and feet.
- The fetal spine is aligned, the cranium is recovered and the abdominal area is formed. The jaw and nose are also formed, although not yet distinguishable that easily! The fetus’s skin is thickened while hair follicles are beginning to grow.
- The fetus’s chest comes to protect his/her heart and his/her eyelids which are nearly fully developed to cover and protect the eyes.
- The size of the fetus (head-tail distance) during this period is about 25mm.
