Pregnancy Calendar - 10th Week
- Prefer Omega -3 fatty acids found in oily fish which have a beneficial effect on brain development and vision of the fetus. Avoid eating raw fish and shellfish.
- If you feel any dizziness or fainting you should inform your doctor.
- Pay attention to your body and satisfy the new needs of your organism.
For the mother:
- You may observe an increase in the size of your breasts and notice that the belts around your waist, once worn more comfortably, now are tighter.
- You may perceive yourself to be inexplicably depressed or irritable.
For the baby:
- The embryo appears to be more developed compared to the previous week, although the size of the cranium remains disproportionately large compared to the rest of his/her body.
- The palms of the embryo’s hands have visible folds, and fingers and toes appear separately on the hands and feet.
- The joints of the embryo have already been developed, including wrists and ankles.
- The nervous system of your baby has started to meet many of the embryo’s demands and many of his/her vital organs have started functioning.
- The embryo’s heart has gotten its final shape.
- The nose and eyes of your baby are more clearly distinguishable.
- The eyes remain closed and will not open until enough time passes.
- The embryo’s intestines develop in the umbilical cord.
- The size of the fetus (head-tail distance) is about 42mm and it weighs about 5 grams.
