Pregnancy Calendar - 22nd Week
- Tell your doctor if your contractions are painful and regular!
- Ask for the support of the people who make you feel lovely.
- Take advantage of the opportunity you still have to travel by airplane and plan a holiday.
For the mother:
- The estrogen in your body dramatically increases the blood flow to the breasts and around the pelvic area, encouraging you to feel rather attractive.
- You feel small and painless irregular contractions (Braxton Hikx) that can be seen by looking at your tummy contracting. The contractions should not be more than four per hour.
For the baby:
- The embryo begins to spend alternating periods of sleep and wakefulness.
- It is possible for the fetus to react to loud sounds and music.
- When sleeping, a light tap on your abdomen may wake the fetus up.
- The sweat glands develop and the nails on the fetus’s fingers and toes are already fully formed.
- The fetus’s skin is still reddish, though less transparent and less wrinkly. Fluffy hair covers the entire body.
- The size of the fetus (head-tail distance) reaches about 25cm, and it weighs approximately 400grams.
